In the midst of torrid summer months and stagnant air, indie/pop/folk band Oh Honey has emerged onto the scene like a highly anticipated scoop of ice cream, proving to be the most refreshing and savory part of your day the from the moment you choose to partake in the sweetness. Oh Honey was born in 2013 when songwriter Mitchy Collins felt an urge to form a folk pop duo that would be every bit as raw and zealous as a spontaneous backyard singing session. Upon searching for a female counter part to balance his own singing voice, he came across songwriter and theater actress Danielle Bouchard. The two instantaneously connected and propelled each other forward in their music career, infused by an optimism that could only be channeled into their melodious synchrony. The name “Oh Honey” serves as an allusion to Collins’ most beloved episode of How I Met Your Mother as well as the rise of honey farms in New York that was occurring around the time Collins and Bouchard met.

The Brooklyn-based pair could best be described as harmoniously organic. Both members aren’t likely to mind industry pressures and constantly aim for a sound that captures the many nuances of the season – a poolside splash, a campfire in the woods – all the while chanting uplifting lyrics. No one is safe from their contagious joy as they deliver lines such as “Can’t complain about much these days/I believe we’ll be okay,” and other positive proclamations. The overwhelmingly happy vibes emitted from the band are similar to ones you might catch if you were to mash The Lumineers, Paramore, and First Aid Kit into one.

Their independently released debut EP, With Love, is of a bleeding-watercolor quality, turning listeners a soft blend of sunlight yellow and sage green as they seemingly float through the life-affirming recitations every song has to offer. Their single “Be Okay” serves as the bellwether of their flock of songs and has since been heard on Sirius XM and several sold out performances in New York. As of February, Oh Honey has joined the Atlantic Records roster and established an even deeper and stronger bond between their voices as well as their hearts.

We encourage you to follow along as the band continues to produce songs and videos that encompass every bit of unequivocal faith they have in the future – not only for themselves, but for the rest of the world as well.
